Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE


    1. A0020LLC01
      B003YLR High Temperature Grease

      Apply high temperature grease to the areas of the parking brake plate which make contact with the shoe as shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the parking brake anchor block sub-assembly and cable support bracket with the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      75.5 N*m  { 770 kgf*cm, 56 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

  3. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly with the nut.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A0021QZ

      Connect the parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly to the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

      *A LH Side
      *B RH Side
      *1 Parking Brake Anchor Block Sub-assembly
      *a Pin
      B003YHT High Temperature Grease

      Apply high temperature grease to the areas of the parking brake anchor block sub-assembly which make contact with the parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly.

      Note

      Check that the parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly is installed so that the pin is positioned as shown in the illustration.

      *1 Parking Brake Shoe Lever Sub-assembly
      *a Parking Brake Inner Cable

      Check that the parking brake inner cable and parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly are securely connected by trying to pull them apart.

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY


    1. A00238NN01

      Using SST, install the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly with the parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, parking brake shoe hold down compression spring and parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY


    1. A0020G8N01

      Using SST, install the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly with the parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, parking brake shoe hold down compression spring and parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.

  7. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET


    1. A0020Y3C01
      B003YLR High Temperature Grease

      Apply high temperature grease to the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set to the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.

  8. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Lower Side)


    1. A00230FN01

      Using SST, install the parking brake shoe return tension spring.

  9. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Upper Side)


    1. A0022TNN01

      Using SST, install the parking brake shoe return tension spring.

  10. CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION


    1. Check that each part is installed properly.

      Note

      There should be no oil or grease on the friction surfaces of the shoe linings or discs.

  11. INSTALL REAR DISC

  12. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

  13. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  14. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL

  15. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL

    Click here

  16. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }

  17. INSTALL ABS MOTOR RELAY


    1. With the power switch off, install the 2 ABS motor relays (ABS MOTOR NO. 1 relay and ABS MOTOR NO. 2 relay).

    2. Clear the DTCs.
