Note
When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1341, C1342, C1343 and/or C1344 may be stored. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTCs.
While the auxiliary battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch is turned on. Therefore, even if only brake pads are to be removed and installed, be sure to remove the ABS motor relays before beginning work.

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The following procedure is for the LH side.

REMOVE ABS MOTOR RELAY

REMOVE REAR WHEEL
SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
REMOVE REAR DISC
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Upper Side)
Using SST, remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Lower Side)
Using SST, remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET
Slide the parking brake shoe, remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.
REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
Using SST, remove the parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, parking brake shoe hold down compression spring and parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.
Remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
Using SST, remove the parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, parking brake shoe hold down compression spring and parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.
Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Slide the parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly.
Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to remove the parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly.
SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
Remove the nut and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
Remove the 2 nuts, cable support bracket and parking brake anchor block sub-assembly.
