PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, initialize the following system(s) after the cable is reconnected.

HANDLING PRECAUTIONS FOR SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM
This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Failure to carry out service operations in the correct sequence could cause the SRS to unexpectedly deploy during servicing. This may cause a serious accident.
Before servicing (including inspection, replacement, removal and installation of parts), be sure to read the precautionary notices for Supplemental Restraint System.
PRECAUTIONS FOR REMOVAL, INSTALLATION AND REPLACEMENT OF ELECTRONIC MOTOR POWER STEERING COMPONENTS
Be sure to align the front wheels straight ahead when removing and installing the steering link assembly.
When disconnecting the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering sliding with shaft yoke sub-assembly of the power steering link assembly, be sure to put matchmarks on the parts before starting the procedure.
After replacing the power steering link assembly, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration.
HANDLING PRECAUTION
When handling the electronic parts:
Avoid any impact to electronic parts such as ECUs and relays. Replace them with new ones if dropped or subjected to a severe blow.
Do not expose any electronic parts to high temperatures or humidity.
In order to prevent deformation or malfunctions due to static electricity, do not touch the connector terminals.
When handling the power steering ECU assembly:
When the power steering ECU assembly has been replaced, perform assist map writing, rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration.
When handling the power steering link assembly:
Avoid any impact to the power steering link assembly, especially to the motor or torque sensor. Replace these parts with new ones if dropped or subjected to a severe blow.
Do not pull on the wire harness when moving the power steering link assembly.
If the power steering link assembly has been replaced, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration.
When disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors:
Before disconnecting connectors related to the power steering system, turn the power switch on (IG), center the steering wheel, turn the power switch off, and then disconnect the connectors.
Before reconnecting connectors related to the power steering system, ensure that the power switch is off. Then center the steering wheel and turn the power switch on (IG).
Note
Do not turn the power switch on (IG) when the steering wheel is not centered.
If the above operations are not carried out properly, the steering center point (zero point) will deviate, which may lead to a difference in steering effort between turning right and left. If there is a difference in steering effort between turning right and left, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration.
PRECAUTIONS FOR CAN COMMUNICATION
CAN communication lines are used to receive information from the skid control ECU assembly and the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly, and to transmit warnings to the combination meter assembly.
When problems are detected in the CAN communication lines, CAN communication DTCs are stored.
Perform troubleshooting for communication problems when CAN communication DTCs are output. Be sure to start troubleshooting the power steering system after confirming that the CAN communication system is normal.
Since the CAN communication lines each have their own length and route, they cannot be repaired temporarily with a bypass wire, etc.
