HYBRID TRANSMISSION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT CHECK SHIFT LOCK OPERATION


    1. Move the shift lever to park (P).

    2. Turn the power switch off.

    3. Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from P to any other position.

    4. Turn the power switch on (READY), depress the brake pedal, and check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.

      If the operation is not as specified, inspect the transmission floor shift assembly.

  2. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION


    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lever cap.

    3. When moving the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.

      If the operation is not as specified, inspect the transmission floor shift assembly.

  3. ROAD TEST

    CAUTION:

    Confirm the safety of the working environment, then start the inspection.

    Note


    • Perform engine inspection and adjustment before starting a road test.

    • Perform a road test at normal operating fluid temperature 50 to 80°C (122 to 176°F).

    • Make sure the air conditioning switch and cruise control switch are off.

    S position test With the shift lever in S (while the vehicle is stopped), move the shift lever to "+" to check that the shift position indicated on the combination meter changes as follows: 1 → 2, 2 → 3, 3 → 4, 4 → 5, 5 → 6, 6 → 7 and 7 → 8.
    Downshifting

    While driving with the S3 range selected and a vehicle speed of approximately 76 km/h (47 mph), move the shift lever to "-" and check that the transmission shifts to the S2 range.

    Tech Tips

    If the vehicle speed exceeds 78 km/h (48 mph), downshifting cannot be performed.

    While driving with the S2 range selected and a vehicle speed of approximately 43 km/h (27 mph), move the shift lever to "-" and check that the transmission shifts to the S1 range.

    Tech Tips

    If the vehicle speed exceeds 45 km/h (28 mph), downshifting cannot be performed.
    P position test Stop the vehicle on a grade (more than 5°) and after moving the shift lever to P, release the parking brake and check that the parking lock pawl holds the vehicle in place.
    Noise and vibration Check for noise and vibration when driving the vehicle and during gear changes.
    Fluid leaks After performing a road test, check for fluid leaks.
