  2. HANDLING PRECAUTION FOR LANE DEPARTURE ALERT SYSTEM

    1. Keep in mind the following points when inspecting the lane departure alert system.

      • The lane departure alert system warns the driver of lane departure in accordance with the road and driving conditions. However, the system alone is not sufficient for maintaining the vehicle position in the lane. Be sure to control the vehicle using the steering wheel to correct the vehicle's path while paying attention to your surroundings and the road ahead. Drive the vehicle in a responsible manner under all circumstances.

      • The lane departure alert system operates when it recognizes lane markers using the lane departure warning camera mounted on the upper portion of the windshield. Therefore, the system does not operate when lane markers are not detected and an unnecessary warning buzzer may sound.

      • The lane departure alert system operates when the lane departure alert main switch is turned on and lane markers are detected while the vehicle is traveling within the system operating speed. However, depending on the road and driving conditions, the system may not operate or may be canceled.

    2. Lane departure warning camera handling precautions

Failure to observe the following precautions may result in a malfunction:

      • Do not touch the lens of the lane departure warning camera with bare hands.

      • Do not allow anything to adhere to the lane departure warning camera lens.

      • Do not apply strong impacts to the lane departure warning camera.

      • Do not allow any liquids to contact the lane departure warning camera.

      • Do not apply excessive force when installing, removing, or replacing the lane departure warning camera or camera cover. Doing so may deform the lane departure warning camera, bracket or camera cover.

      • Do not use a deformed lane departure warning camera cover.

      • Replace the windshield glass when the bracket is deformed or damaged.

      • Do not use a lane departure warning camera that has been dropped.

      • Make sure to wear clean cotton gloves or equivalent when installing or removing the lane departure warning camera or camera cover as they will not function properly if oil adheres to the part.

      • Do not pull on the wire harness when disconnecting the lane departure warning camera connector.

      • Do not apply excessive force to the camera cover unless removing it for cleaning.

      • Be careful not to press on the lip of the camera cover as it is extremely soft.

    3. When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a lane departure warning camera, make sure to use a Lexus genuine part. The lane departure warning camera may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the lane departure alert system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity or black ceramic border.
