POP UP HOOD SENSOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CAUTION:

Be sure to correctly follow the removal and installation procedures for the pedestrian protection sensor.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SENSOR (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

  2. INSPECT PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SENSOR (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Pop Up Hood Lifter not Deployed)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

      Click here

    2. Visually check the pedestrian protection sensor for defects if the front bumper of the vehicle or the area around the bumper is damaged.

      Tech Tips

      The defects are as follows:


      • Cracks on the sensor housing

      • Dents on the sensor housing

      • Chips on the sensor housing

      • Cracks or other damage to the connector

      • Damage to the serial number

      OK
      No defects are found.

      If any defects are found, replace the pedestrian protection sensor with a new one.

  3. INSPECT PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SENSOR (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Pop Up Hood Lifter is Deployed)


    1. When a pop up hood lifter has deployed as the result of a collision, be sure to replace all pedestrian protection sensor.
