REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CAUTION:

Be sure to correctly follow the removal and installation procedures for the rear side seatback assemblies.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT REAR SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

    2. Visually check for defects with the rear side seatback assemblies installed on the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      The defects are as follows:


      • Scratches, broken or frayed threads on the surface of the rear side seatback assembly around the rear seat airbag assemblies

      • Small cracks on the rear side seatback assembly around the rear seat airbag assemblies

      • Significant discoloration on the rear side seatback assembly around the rear seat airbag assemblies

      OK
      No defects are found.

      If any defects are found, replace the rear side seatback assembly with a new one.

  2. INSPECT REAR SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag not Deployed)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

    2. Visually check for defects with the rear side seatback assemblies removed from the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      The defects are as follows:


      • Scratches, broken or frayed threads on the surface of the base fabric of the rear side seatback assemblies

      • Marks from being dropped

      • Deformation of the installation surface of the rear side seatback assemblies

      • Cracks or other damage to the wire harness or connector

      OK
      No defects are found.

      If any defects are found, replace the rear side seatback assembly with a new one.
