PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
After the engine switch is turned off, the radio receiver assembly records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the terminal is reconnected.
| System Name | See Procedure |
|---|---|
| Lane Departure Alert System (w/ Steering Control) | |
| Stop and Start System | |
| Variable Gear Ratio Steering System | |
| Parking Assist Monitor System (w/ Parallel Parking Assist Function) | |
| Parking Assist Monitor System (w/o Parallel Parking Assist Function) | |
| Pre-collision System | |
| Air Conditioning System |
PRECAUTION FOR NAVIGATION SYSTEM
If replacing any of the following parts, refer to Initialization of Repair Instruction.
Radio receiver assembly
Telematics transceiver*
*: w/ Telematics Transceiver
PRECAUTIONS FOR SD CARD
The navigation system uses an SD card containing data such as map data.
Precaution for removing the SD card
Note
The SD card contains map data and various programs for the navigation system.
Without the SD card inserted, the navigation system will not operate normally. Therefore, remove the SD card only when necessary, such as when updating the map data.
After removing the SD card, do not insert any other object into the SD card slot.
When inserting the SD card into the SD card slot, make sure that the SD card is free of foreign matter.
After inserting the SD card, make sure that it is securely inserted into the SD card slot.
Before removing the SD card, make sure that the engine switch is turned off.
Precaution for handling the SD card
Note
Do not touch the terminals with your hand or a metal object.
If a strong force is applied to the SD card, it may be damaged.
Do not leave the removed SD card in any of the following environments. If the SD card is affected adversely, it may result in a malfunction in the navigation system.
Places where static electricity or electronic noise is generated.
Places which are hot or humid.
Places where the SD card may be exposed to direct sunlight.
Places where condensation occurs.
Places which are prone to corrosion.
Do not use the SD card if the label has peeled off or someone has put a sticker or other label on the SD card.
PRECAUTIONS FOR RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Sound Library Function)
| *a | Example |
| *b | Hard Disk Drive |
A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is built into the radio receiver assembly to store music data of sound library function. Therefore, care must be taken for the following points when handling:
When it is necessary to replace the radio receiver assembly, be sure to replace it with a new one.
Note
If a used radio receiver assembly is installed as a replacement part, the customer's HDD will not be recognized.
Do not apply any vibration or shock to the radio receiver assembly.
Note
Do not drop or subject the radio receiver assembly to severe impacts.
Do not use the radio receiver assembly if it has been dropped or subjected to severe impacts.
Do not store the radio receiver assembly without the HDD installed. (Only remove the HDD from the radio receiver assembly when a replacement radio receiver assembly or HDD is ready.)
Do not remove the radio receiver assembly if there is a risk that condensation may occur.
Note
If the temperature of the radio receiver assembly changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the radio receiver assembly is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity.
Take measures to prevent static electricity.
Note
Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD.
Keep the radio receiver assembly away from magnets or magnetized items.
Note
Keep the radio receiver assembly away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.
PRECAUTIONS FOR HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) (w/ Sound Library Function)
Music data of the sound library function is stored on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Make sure to follow the following instructions when replacing the HDD:
Note
Data downloaded by the customer may be stored on the HDD. This data will be lost when the HDD is replaced. Make sure to warn the customer that their data will be lost and obtain their consent prior to replacing the HDD.
The HDD must only be replaced with a new one. Do not attempt to install a used HDD from another vehicle.
Note
The radio receiver assembly can recognize only a new HDD.
| *a | Example |
| *b | Correct |
| *c | Incorrect |
Do not touch the HDD cover.
Note
When removing or installing the HDD, only hold it by the areas shown in the illustration.
Do not apply any vibration or shock to the HDD.
Note
Do not drop or subject the HDD to severe impacts.
Do not use the HDD if it has been dropped or subjected to severe impacts.
Do not store the HDD by itself if it has been removed from the radio receiver assembly. (Only remove the HDD from the radio receiver assembly when a replacement radio receiver assembly or HDD is ready.)
Do not remove the HDD if there is a risk that condensation may occur.
Note
If the temperature of the HDD changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit.
Keep the HDD away from magnets or magnetized items.
Note
Keep the HDD away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.
Inspect after HDD replacement.
Note
Make sure to perform Check Hard Disk Drive in Operation Check to confirm that there are no HDD abnormalities after removal or installation.
PRECAUTIONS FOR G-BOOK (w/ G-BOOK System)
The radio receiver assembly functions as the G-BOOK device and holds the G-BOOK ID.
Note
When replacing the radio receiver assembly or telematics transceiver, perform Vehicle Contract Setting. (w/ Telematics Transceiver)
When replacing the radio receiver assembly, perform Vehicle Contract Setting. (w/o Telematics Transceiver)
Necessary data for the G-BOOK system is stored in the radio receiver assembly.
Note
Download necessary data after replacing the radio receiver assembly. (w/ Telematics Transceiver)
