PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY(for 4GR-FSE) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst)

  2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

      Remove the 4 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator.

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR

      Remove the 4 nuts and No. 1 fuel tank protector.

  4. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

      *a Matchmark

      Put matchmarks on the rear drive pinion companion flange and propeller with center bearing shaft assembly.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and 4 washers and disconnect the propeller shaft assembly.

      Tech Tips

      If the flange connection is hard to separate, temporarily install 1 nut only and evenly tap the flange with a brass bar and hammer to separate the propeller shaft assembly from the rear drive pinion companion flange.

      Remove the 2 bolts and 2 adjusting washers.

      Tech Tips

      Some vehicles are not equipped with the adjusting washers.

    4. Pull out to remove the propeller with center bearing shaft assembly.

      Insert SST in the transmission to prevent oil leakage.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the automatic transmission extension housing oil seal.
