BRAKE BOOSTER(for RHD) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

Make sure to release vacuum from the brake booster assembly before removing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly from the brake booster assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    Use the same procedure as for LHD.

  3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH

  4. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  5. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER O-RING

  7. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 BRAKE TUBE

  8. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET

  9. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING

    1. Remove the brake pedal return spring from the steering column assembly and push rod pin.

  10. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN

  11. DISCONNECT UNION TO CHECK VALVE HOSE

      Slide the clip and disconnect the union to check valve hose from the brake booster assembly.

  12. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 BRAKE TUBE

      Disengage the clamp to remove the rear No. 1 brake tube.

      Note


      • Do not kink or damage the rear No. 1 brake tube.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

  13. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 BRAKE TUBE

      Disengage the clamp to remove the front No. 1 brake tube.

      Note


      • Do not kink or damage the front No. 1 brake tube.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

  14. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY

      for 8AR-FTS w/ Stop and Start System:


      1. Disconnect the connector from the vacuum sensor assembly.

    2. A01MVKP

      for 8AR-FTS w/o Stop and Start System:


      1. Disconnect the connector from the vacuum warning switch assembly.

    3. B003SX3

      Remove the 4 nuts and brake booster assembly from the vehicle body.

      Note

      Do not kink or damage the brake lines.

  15. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET

  16. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS


    1. Loosen the clevis lock nut and remove the brake master cylinder push rod clevis and clevis lock nut from the brake booster assembly.

  17. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the brake vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster assembly.

    2. Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.

  18. REMOVE VACUUM SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for 8AR-FTS w/ Stop and Start System)


    1. Remove the vacuum sensor assembly from the brake booster assembly.

    2. Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.

  19. REMOVE VACUUM WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for 8AR-FTS w/o Stop and Start System)


    1. Remove the vacuum warning switch assembly from the brake booster assembly.

    2. Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.
