If the following conditions are detected while the cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the vehicle speed stored in the ECM and cancels cruise control system control of vehicle speed.

Vehicle Condition Auto Cancel Condition Re-operation Condition

  • Cruise control indicator goes off

  • A warning message "Check Cruise Control System" is displayed

  • "Pong" warning sound is heard


  • Open or short in stop light switch circuit

  • Problem with vehicle speed signal

Cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch (ON/OFF button).

  • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

  • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit

  • Malfunction in the vehicle stability control system

  • Communication stop between skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) and ECM

Engine switch is turned off and back to on (IG) again.
Cruise control indicator remains illuminated (Cruise control system control of vehicle speed is canceled)
  • Vehicle speed is lower than low speed limit (approximately 40 km/h (or 25 mph)) while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

  • VSC system operates while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

Cruise control main switch is pushed to +/RES.
Vehicle speed is lower than stored speed by approximately 16 km/h (or 10 mph) or more Cruise control main switch is pushed to -/SET.
Cruise control indicator goes out Problem with throttle position sensor or motor Cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch (ON/OFF button).
