COOLING FAN MOTOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK COOLING FAN MOTOR

      Component without harness connected

      (Cooling Fan Motor)

      for Cooling Fan Motor 160 W + 160 W Type or 200 W + 200 W Type:


      1. Disconnect the cooling fan motor connector.

      2. Check that the cooling fan motor operates smoothly when the battery is connected to the cooling fan motor connector.

      3. Measure the current while the cooling fan motor is operating.

        Standard Current
        Motor Type Condition Specified Condition
        for Cooling Fan Motor 160 W + 160 W Type Battery voltage applied at 20°C (68°F) 10.0 to 16.0 A
        for Cooling Fan Motor 200 W + 200 W Type 13.0 to 19.0 A

      4. Connect the cooling fan motor connector.

      (Cooling Fan Motor)

      for Cooling Fan Motor 240 W + 240 W Type:


      1. Disconnect the cooling fan motor connector.

      2. Check that the cooling fan motor operates smoothly when the battery is connected to the cooling fan motor connector.

      3. Measure the current while the cooling fan motor is operating.

        Standard Current
        Condition Specified Condition
        Battery voltage applied at 20°C (68°F) 15.0 to 21.0 A

      4. Connect the cooling fan motor connector.

  2. CHECK NO. 2 COOLING FAN MOTOR


    1. Disconnect the No. 2 cooling fan motor connector.

      (No. 2 Cooling Fan Motor)

      Check that the No. 2 cooling fan motor operates smoothly when the battery is connected to the No. 2 cooling fan motor connector.

    3. Measure the current while the No. 2 cooling fan motor is operating.

      Standard Current
      Motor Type Condition Specified Condition
      for Cooling Fan Motor 160 W + 160 W Type Battery voltage applied at 20°C (68°F) 10.0 to 16.0 A
      for Cooling Fan Motor 200 W + 200 W Type 13.0 to 19.0 A
      for Cooling Fan Motor 240 W + 240 W Type 15.0 to 21.0 A

      If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 2 cooling fan motor.

    4. Connect the No. 2 cooling fan motor connector.
