TURBOCHARGER REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst)

  2. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING HEAT INSULATOR LH (w/ Front Engine Mounting Heat Insulator LH)

  3. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH

      Remove the bolt and disengage the front engine mounting insulator from the engine assembly.

    2. B003SYQ

      Remove the 4 bolts and front No. 1 engine mounting bracket LH from the cylinder block sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE NO. 5 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

      Type A


      1. Remove the 5 bolts and No. 5 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the outlet compressor elbow and cylinder head sub-assembly.

    2. B003UH6

      Type B


      1. Remove the 4 bolts and No. 5 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the outlet compressor elbow and cylinder head sub-assembly.

  5. DISCONNECT NO. 1 AIR TUBE

      Loosen the hose clamp and remove the bolt to disconnect the No. 1 air tube from the outlet compressor elbow with intake air resonator.

  6. REMOVE OUTLET COMPRESSOR ELBOW

      Disengage the clamp and disconnect the vacuum transmitting hose assembly from the outlet compressor elbow.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and outlet compressor elbow with intake air resonator from the turbocharger sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the outlet compressor gasket from the turbocharger sub-assembly.

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 4 TURBO WATER HOSE

      Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 4 turbo water hose from the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly.

  8. DISCONNECT NO. 3 TURBO WATER HOSE

      Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 3 turbo water hose from the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 HEAT INSULATOR BRACKET

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 heat insulator bracket from the turbocharger sub-assembly and No. 1 heat insulator bracket.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR BRACKET

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 heat insulator bracket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  11. DISCONNECT INLET TURBO OIL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts, union bolt and disconnect the inlet turbo oil pipe sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the No. 1 union bolt gasket from the union bolt.

  12. REMOVE TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the wire harness clamp.

      Disconnect the intake air control valve (air by-pass valve assembly) connector.

    3. B003UEA

      Disconnect the vacuum transmitting hose assembly from the waste gate valve actuator with bracket assembly.

    4. B003UHP

      Remove the 4 nuts and turbocharger sub-assembly from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    5. B003TND

      Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    6. B003TX0

      Remove the outlet No. 1 turbo oil gasket from the inlet turbo oil pipe sub-assembly.

  13. REMOVE NO. 4 TURBO WATER HOSE


    1. B003WVG

      Slide the clip and remove the No. 4 turbo water hose from the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly.

  14. REMOVE NO. 3 TURBO WATER HOSE

      Slide the clip and remove the No. 3 turbo water hose from the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly.

  15. REMOVE INLET COMPRESSOR ELBOW

  16. REMOVE NO. 1 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly from the turbocharger sub-assembly.

    2. B003TMG

      Remove the water by-pass gasket from the turbocharger sub-assembly.

  17. REMOVE INLET TURBO OIL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 nuts and inlet turbo oil pipe sub-assembly from the turbocharger sub-assembly.

    2. B003VIZ

      Remove the inlet turbo oil gasket from the turbocharger sub-assembly.
