Note
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY
Remove the bolt.
Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 ventilation hose from the air cleaner hose assembly.
Loosen the 2 hose clamps and remove the air cleaner hose assembly.
REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER
DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

Raise the lever while pushing the lock on the lever, and disconnect the ECM connector.
Note
After disconnecting the ECM connector, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the ECM connector.
Remove the nut.
Disengage the clamp.
Disconnect the connector and remove the bolt.
Disengage the clamp.
Disconnect the intake air control valve (air by-pass valve assembly) connector.

Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
Disengage the clamp.
Remove the 2 nuts.
REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE (AIR BY-PASS VALVE ASSEMBLY)
Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 3 bolts and intake air control valve (air by-pass valve assembly) shown in the illustration.
Note
Do not drop or subject any component of the turbocharger sub-assembly to impact. If any component of the turbocharger sub-assembly is dropped or subjected to a strong impact, replace it with a new one.
