REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR ENGINE OIL SEAL


    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new rear engine oil seal.

      Note

      Keep the lip free of foreign matter.

      *a -0.5 to 0.5mm

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.

      Note


      • Wipe off extra grease of the crankshaft.

      • Keep the lip free of foreign matter.

      • Do not tap on the oil seal at an angle.

  2. INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.

    2. Clean the 8 bolts and 8 bolt holes.

      *1 Crank Angle Sensor Plate
      *2 Drive Plate and Ring Gear
      *3 Rear drive plate Spacer
      B003WAF Automatic Transmission Side

      Install the crank angle sensor plate, drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and rear drive plate spacer to the crankshaft.

      Tech Tips

      As the crank angle sensor plate, drive plate and ring gear and rear drive plate spacer are not reversible, be sure to install it in the direction shown in the illustration.

    4. B003USVC02
      *a Adhesive

      Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads at the end of each of the 8 bolts.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    5. B003TTBE01

      Install and uniformly tighten the 8 bolts in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      83 N*m  { 846 kgf*cm, 61 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not start the engine for at least an hour after installing the drive plate.
