FRONT CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL

   
   

   1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new timing chain case oil seal.

      Note

      Keep the lip free of foreign matter.

   2. 

      *a	Standard depth

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the timing chain case oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover sub-assembly edge.

      Standard depth
      0 to 1.0 mm (0 to 0.0394 in.)

      Note

      
      

      • Keep the lip free of foreign matter.

      • Do not tap the timing chain case oil seal at an angle.

      • Do not deform the timing chain case oil seal.

      • Make sure that the timing chain case oil seal is not protruded from the timing chain cover sub-assembly.

      • Wipe off MP grease on the crankshaft.

      • Make sure that the lip of the timing chain case oil seal is not turned over.

2. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT TIMING GEAR KEY

   
   

   1. Install the crankshaft timing gear key to the crankshaft groove.

3. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

   
   

   1. Align the crankshaft timing gear key with the key groove of the crankshaft pulley, and slide on the crankshaft pulley.

   2. 

      *a	Hold
      *b	Turn

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley and install the crankshaft pulley bolt.

      Torque:

      Type A

      250 N*m  { 2549 kgf*cm, 184 ft.*lbf }

      Type B

      260 N*m  { 2651 kgf*cm, 192 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Type A and type B can be distinguished by the class No. of the crankshaft pulley bolt.

      Type	Class
      A	10T
      B	11T

4. CONNECT WIRE HARNESS

   
   

   1. Install the wire harness with the bolt.

      Torque:

      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

   2. Connect the engine oil pressure switch assembly connector.

5. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT

6. INSTALL FAN SHROUD

7. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK
