СИСТЕМА ЗАПУСКА И ОСТАНОВА (для моделей с 3ZR-FAE) МЕРЫ ПРЕДОСТОРОЖНОСТИ

  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSION

    1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

Expression Ignition Switch (Position) Engine Switch (Condition)
Ignition Switch off LOCK Off (Lock)
Ignition Switch ACC ACC On (ACC)
Ignition Switch ON ON On (IG)
      Engine Start START On (Start)
  2. PRECAUTIONS WHEN INSPECTING STOP AND START SYSTEM

    Note

When the audio and visual system or navigation system volume is high, a fail-safe function may operate in order to maintain the operation of stop and start control. The fail-safe function is canceled when the ignition switch is turned off. Using the same power source for the audio and visual system and other systems allows the fail-safe functions to operate more precisely.

  3. PRECAUTIONS WHEN BATTERY IS DISCHARGED AFTER LEAVING VEHICLE FOR A LONG TIME

    Tech Tips

If the vehicle has not been used for a long time, the battery charge will be low and stop and start control operation will be prohibited. In this case, recharge the battery, initialize the integrated current value* and drive the vehicle approximately 5 to 40 minutes until stop and start control operation is permitted.

*: Use the GTS to perform Integrated Current Value Initialization.

  4. PRECAUTIONS WHEN CONNECTING/DISCONNECTING CABLE TO/FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Tech Tips

If the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, stop and start control is prohibited until refresh charge is completed. In this case, drive the vehicle approximately 5 to 60 minutes until refresh charge is completed and stop and start control operation is permitted.

    1. If power is not supplied to the navigation system when the ignition switch is turned to ON for the first time after the battery has been reconnected, DTC B22C0 will be stored. Perform either of the following operations:

      1. Turn the ignition switch from ON to OFF twice.

      2. After turning the ignition switch from ON to off, clear the DTCs.

  5. PRECAUTIONS AFTER CHARGING BATTERY

    Tech Tips

If the battery is charged with the cables connected after stop and start control has been prohibited due to low battery charge, perform the integrated current value initialization using the GTS.

If the Data List item "Integrated Current" indicates 0 or more, initialization is not necessary.

  6. IF THE ENGINE FAILS TO RESTART FROM IDLING STOP

    Note

If the engine fails to restart when stopped by stop and start control, the brake actuator may be activated.

    Brake actuator activation conditions:

    • When the engine fails to restart when stopped by stop and start control.

    • When the brake booster vacuum is insufficient.

    • When the vehicle speed is 3 km/h (2 mph) or more and the brake pedal is depressed*.

*: When the engine is not running.

    Tech Tips

    • When the engine fails to restart when stopped by stop and start control and the brake booster vacuum is insufficient, the brake actuator is activated to ensure the braking force.

    • When the brake actuator is activated, sound and vibration may be generated. This is not due to malfunction of the stop and start system or the vehicle.

  7. WHEN THE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU AND THE STARTER ASSEMBLY ARE REPLACED

    Note

    • for CVT:

When replacing the engine stop and start ECU with a new one, make sure to download the previous status (number of starter operations) of the old engine stop and start ECU. After replacing the engine stop and start ECU, turn the ignition switch to ON and wait 20 seconds, then confirm that "OK" is displayed for the Data List item "Oper Prohibition (O/P Air Bleeding)". Then upload the previous status (number of starter operations) to the engine stop and start ECU and, perform initialization and learning of the air conditioning information and deceleration sensor 0 point.

    • for Manual Transaxle:

When the engine stop and start ECU is replaced, it is necessary to read the number of starter operations before replacement, and to store this number in the new engine stop and start ECU. Moreover, initialization/learning of the air conditioning information and initialization/learning of the deceleration sensor 0 point are also required.

    • When the starter assembly is replaced, the number of starter operations stored in the engine stop and start ECU must be reset.

    • for CVT:

When the starter assembly is replaced, "ST NO. 1 relay" and "ST NO. 2 relay" must be also replaced.

    • for Manual Transaxle:

When the starter assembly is replaced, "ST NO. 1 relay" must be also replaced.

  8. PRECAUTIONS WHEN REPLACING ECM

    Note

When the ECM is replaced on a vehicle with a non-specified battery, it is necessary to perform battery type switching.

  9. NOTE REGARDING PROHIBITION OF FOUR-WHEEL TOWING TRACTION

Do not tow the vehicle with all 4 wheels on the ground.

    Note

If the vehicle is towed with all 4 wheels touching the ground, the stop and start system may be damaged.

    Tech Tips

If the vehicle must be towed with the 4 wheels on the ground, turn the ignition switch off and then turn the ignition switch to ON before towing the vehicle.
