  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSIONS


    1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs depending on the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

  2. FUEL SYSTEM


    1. Observe these precautions when disconnecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type A).


      1. Check that there is no damage or foreign matter on the part of the fuel pipe that contacts the fuel tube connector.

        Pull the tabs of the fuel tube connector retainer as shown in the illustration to disconnect the fuel tube connector from the pipe.

        Note

        Do not use any tools in this procedure.

        If the fuel tube connector and the fuel pipe are stuck together, pinch the fuel tube connector, and then push and pull the fuel pipe to disconnect the fuel pipe and pull it out.

      4. Check for dirt or mud on the seal surface of the disconnected fuel pipe. Clean if necessary.

      5. To protect the disconnected fuel tube connector from damage and contamination, cover it with a plastic bag.

    2. Observe these precautions when disconnecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type B).


      1. Check for dirt or mud on the fuel pipe and around the fuel tube connector before disconnection. Clean if necessary.

        Detach the 2 claws of the fuel tube connector retainer, push down on the fuel tube connector and disconnect it from the fuel pipe.

        Note

        Do not use any tools in this procedure.

        If the fuel tube connector and fuel pipe are stuck, pinch the fuel tube connector by hand, and push and pull the fuel pipe to disconnect it.

      4. Check for foreign matter on the seal surface of the disconnected fuel pipe. Clean if necessary.

      5. To protect the disconnected fuel tube connector from damage and foreign matter, cover it with a plastic bag.

    3. Observe these precautions when disconnecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type C).


      1. Check for dirt or mud on the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and around the fuel tube connector before disconnection. Clean if necessary.

        Detach the hook of the fuel tube connector retainer, open the retainer, and then disconnect the fuel tube connector from the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly.

        Note

        Do not use any tools in this procedure.

        If the fuel tube connector and exhaust fuel addition injector assembly are stuck, pinch the fuel tube connector by hand, and push and pull the fuel tube connector to disconnect it.

      4. Check for foreign matter on the seal surface of the disconnected exhaust fuel addition injector assembly. Clean if necessary.

      5. To protect the disconnected fuel tube connector from damage and foreign matter, cover it with a plastic bag.

    4. Observe these precautions when disconnecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type D).


      1. Check for dirt or mud on the fuel pipe and around the fuel tube connector before disconnection. Clean if necessary.

        Detach the 2 claws of the fuel tube connector retainer, push down on the fuel tube connector and disconnect it from the fuel pipe.

        Note

        Do not use any tools in this procedure.

        If the fuel tube connector and fuel pipe are stuck, pinch the fuel pipe by hand, and push and pull the fuel tube connector to disconnect it.

      4. Check for foreign matter on the seal surface of the disconnected fuel pipe. Clean if necessary.

      5. To protect the disconnected fuel tube connector from damage and foreign matter, cover it with a plastic bag.

    5. Observe these precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type A).


      1. Check that there is no damage or contamination in the connected part of the pipe.

        Align the axis of the fuel tube connector with the axis of the fuel pipe. Push the fuel tube connector into the fuel pipe until the fuel tube connector makes a "click" sound. If it is difficult to connect the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector, apply a small amount of fresh spindle oil or gasoline to the tip of the fuel pipe.

      3. Push down the retainer.

        Note


        • Check for foreign matter in the fuel pipe and around the fuel tube connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-ring or cause leaks in the seal between the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector.

        • Do not use any tools to disconnect the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector.

        • Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.

        • Check for foreign matter on the fuel pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.

        • Put the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and foreign matter contamination.

        • If the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector are stuck together, pinch the fuel tube connector between your fingers and turn it carefully to disconnect it.

        After connecting the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector, try to pull apart the fuel pipe and the fuel tube connector to confirm that they are securely connected.

      5. Check for fuel leaks.

    6. Observe these precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type B).


      1. Check for foreign matter on the fuel pipe and around the fuel tube connector before connecting them. Clean if necessary.

        Align the axis of the fuel tube connector with the axis of the fuel pipe. Push the fuel pipe into the fuel tube connector, and then push up on the retainer.

        • Check for foreign matter in the fuel pipe and around the fuel tube connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-ring or cause leaks in the seal between the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector.

        • Do not use any tools to disconnect the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector.

        • Do not forcefully bend or twist the fuel hose.

        • Check for foreign matter on the fuel pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.

        • Put the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and foreign matter contamination.

        • If the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector are stuck together, pinch the fuel tube connector between your fingers and turn it carefully to disconnect it.

    7. Observe these precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type C).


      1. Check for foreign matter on the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and around the connector before connecting them. Clean if necessary.

        Push the fuel tube connector onto the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and close the retainer in the direction indicated by the arrow until it makes a "click" sound.

        Note


        • Check for foreign matter in the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and around the fuel tube connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-ring or cause leaks in the seal between the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and fuel tube connector.

        • Do not use any tools to disconnect the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and fuel tube connector.

        • Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.

        • Check for foreign matter on the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly seal surface. Clean if necessary.

        • Put the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and fuel tube connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and foreign matter contamination.

        • If the exhaust fuel addition injector and fuel tube connector are stuck together, pinch the fuel tube connector between your fingers and turn it carefully to disconnect it.

        After connecting the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly and fuel tube connector, try to pull them apart to confirm that they are securely connected.

      4. Check for fuel leaks.

    8. Observe the following precautions when handling a nylon tube:

      • Do not twist the connection part of the nylon tube when connecting it.

      • Do not bend or twist the nylon tube.

      • Do not remove the EPDM protector on the outside of the nylon tube.

      • Do not bend the nylon tube as this may cause blockage.

    9. Observe these precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type D).


      1. Check for foreign matter on the fuel pipe and around the fuel tube connector before connecting them. Clean if necessary.
