All of following conditions are met (1 trip detection logic):


  • The engine speed is higher than 1400 rpm.

  • The vehicle speed is more than 10 km/h (6.25 mph).

  • The fuel temperature is 110°C (230°F) or higher for 1 second or more.

 Fuel lines or fuel filter clogged Comes on DTC stored

Note

After replacing the supply pump assembly, the ECM needs initialization.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0168)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    4. Read the DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes
      Result
      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0168 is output A
      DTC P0168 and other DTCs are output B

      If any DTCs other than P0168 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  2. CHECK SUPPLY PUMP ASSEMBLY


    1. Perform a visual inspection of the exterior of the supply pump assembly and check that there are no fuel leaks.

      There are no fuel leaks or stains.

  3. REPLACE FUEL FILTER ELEMENT ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the fuel filter element assembly.

    1. Replace the supply pump assembly.

    1. Bleed the air from the fuel system.

  7. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear the DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / Fuel Temperature.


      Powertrain > Engine > Data List
      Tester Display
      Fuel Temperature

    6. Drive the vehicle in a city area and check that the value of Fuel Temperature does not exceed 110°C (230°F).
