LIGHTING SYSTEM PRECAUTION

  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSIONS

    1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs depending on the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

Expression Ignition Switch (Position) Engine Switch (Condition)
Ignition Switch off LOCK Off (Lock)
Ignition Switch ACC ACC On (ACC)
Ignition Switch ON ON On (IG)
      Engine Start START On (Start)
  2. PRECAUTION FOR HID HEADLIGHT SYSTEM (for HID Headlight)

    1. When any defects such as deformation, cracks, dents, chipping, etc. are identified on an HID headlight (especially on the headlight light control ECU), replace the headlight with a new one.

    2. Even if the operation seems to be normal, the failsafe function may be defective.

    3. Since a discharge headlight bulb has pressurized gas inside and can easily be broken if scratched or dropped, special care should be taken. When handling the bulb, hold the plastic or metal part and do not touch the glass part with bare hands.

    4. When the HID headlights illuminate, a high voltage (approximately 30000 V) is applied momentarily to the bulb sockets. Never connect a tester to the high voltage socket of an HID headlight for measurement as this may result in a serious accident because of high voltage.

    5. When servicing an HID headlight, do not allow the HID headlight to come into contact with water. Turn off the headlight dimmer switch, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and disconnect the connector of the headlight light control ECU in advance to avoid electric shocks.

    6. When performing work related to the HID headlights, be sure to check the headlight operation after work is completed and never turn on the headlights if bulbs are not installed.

    7. Do not turn on the HID headlights using a power source other than the vehicle battery.

  3. PRECAUTION FOR HEADLIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT

    1. If even a thin film of oil is left on the surface of a headlight bulb, its service life will be shortened because the light will burn at a higher temperature. When replacing a bulb, be sure to hold the flanged part of the light so that your hand does not contact the glass part of the light.

    2. As the internal pressure of discharge headlight bulbs is high, dropping, hitting or damaging a bulb may result in it exploding and shattering. (for HID Headlight)

    3. Always prepare a new bulb for immediate replacement. While replacing a bulb, the lens may attract dust and moisture if removed from the vehicle for a long time.

    4. Always replace a bulb with another bulb of the same wattage.

    5. If only replacing the bulb on one side, differences in brightness and lighting color between the right and left sides may occur.

    6. Securely install the socket after bulb replacement. The lens may become cloudy or the light cavity may fill with water through gaps around the socket if the socket is not installed securely.

    7. Do not break the discharge headlight bulb when disposing of it as shards of glass may fly off and cause injuries. (for HID Headlight)

    8. As a discharge headlight bulb cannot be determined to be defective or not by checking it visually, check it by replacing the bulb with a normally functioning one. (for HID Headlight)
