WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

   
   

   1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation.

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G11-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G10-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G11-3 (+1) and G10-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   2. Check the front washer operation.

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G11-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G10-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G11-3 (+1) and G10-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

   
   

   1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (for LH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G11-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G10-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G11-3 (+1) and G10-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   2. Check the front washer operation (for LH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G11-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G10-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G11-3 (+1) and G10-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   3. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (for RH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G62-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G61-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G62-2 (+1) and G61-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   4. Check the front washer operation (for RH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G62-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G61-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G62-2 (+1) and G61-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.
