    1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

  2. WINDSHIELD DEICER SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    The heated windshield defroster system thin heater wires are attached to the windshield glass and defrost the windshield glass surface quickly.

    Tech Tips


    • The windshield deicer system thin heater wires are attached to the inside of the front window and deice the window surface quickly. The system automatically turns off after approximately 4 minutes.

    • Due to the limitation of the charge/discharge balance management load, the heated windshield defroster system may not operate. Check that no messages are displayed on the accessory meter assembly.

    • The heated windshield defroster system is available for use when the engne is running (ignition switch is turned ON) and the ambient temperature is 5°C or less.

    • When any one of the following conditions is met, the heated windshield defroster system automatically turns off.


      1. The ignition switch is turned off.

      2. The ambient temperature is 6°C or higher.

      3. 4 minutes elapse since the heated windshield defroster system began operating.

  3. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT

    Component Outline
    Air conditioning control assembly (front window deicer switch) Sends signals to the air conditioning amplifier assembly to operate the heated windshield defroster.
    HWD relays Receives operation signals from the HWD relays and supplies electricity to the thin heater wires.
    Windshield glass (heated windshield defroster) Receives power from HWD relays and heats the thin heater wires.
