DESCRIPTION

The battery thermometer sensor detects the battery temperature.

The battery current sensor has a built-in thermistor with a resistance that changes in response to changes in the battery temperature.

When the battery temperature is low the thermistor resistance increases, and when the temperature is high the resistance decreases.

The battery thermometer sensor is connected to the ECM.

A power supply voltage of 5 V is supplied to the battery temperature sensor from terminal THB of the ECM via resistor R.

As resistor R and the battery thermometer sensor are connected in series, when the resistance changes in response to changes in the battery temperature, the electric potential at terminal THB also changes.

Based on this signal, the ECM protects the battery by reducing the charge current when the battery temperature is high.

    1. Inspect the battery current sensor assembly.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the B76 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the B72 battery current sensor assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      B76-75 (VCIB) - B72-2 (VC5) Always Below 1 Ω
