CHARGING SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P1550, P1551, P1552

DTC Code DTC Name
P1550 Battery Current Sensor Circuit
P1551 Battery Current Sensor Circuit Low
P1552 Battery Current Sensor Circuit High

DESCRIPTION

The battery current sensor built into the generator control ECU assembly detects the amount of charge/discharge current. The generator control ECU assembly sends voltage generation instructions to the generator assembly based on this signal.

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area MIL Memory
P1550 Battery Current Sensor Circuit

Difference between the maximum and minimum current values of the battery current sensor is less than 1 A for 10 seconds or more with the ignition switch ON

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Generator control ECU assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

Does not come on DTC stored
P1551 Battery Current Sensor Circuit Low

Battery current sensor output value is abnormally low for 30 seconds or more with the ignition switch ON

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Generator control ECU assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

Does not come on DTC stored
P1552 Battery Current Sensor Circuit High

Battery current sensor output value is abnormally high for 30 seconds or more with the ignition switch ON

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Generator control ECU assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

Does not come on DTC stored

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1550, P1551 OR P1552)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Charging Control / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs.

Body Electrical > Charging Control > Trouble Codes

      Proceed to
      DTC P1550, P1551 or P1552 is output
DTC P1550, P1551 or P1552 and other DTCs are output

      Tech Tips

If any DTCs other than P1550, P1551 or P1552 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

DTC P1550, P1551 or P1552 and other DTCs are output
    DTC P1550, P1551 or P1552 is output
  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (BATTERY CURRENT)

    1. Turn all of the electrical systems (headlights, blower motor, rear defogger, etc.) off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Charging Control / Data List / Battery Current.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GENERATOR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR) - GENERATOR ASSEMBLY)

    1. Disconnect the A58 generator control ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the B62 generator assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-6 (LIN1) - B62-1 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
