GENERAL
This system has a television camera assembly mounted on the back door to display an image of the area behind the vehicle on the display. The display panel also shows a composite view consisting of the area behind the vehicle and parking guide lines to assist the driver in parking the vehicle by monitoring the area behind the vehicle.
This system consists of the following components:
Television camera assembly
Navigation receiver assembly (for Navigation Receiver Type)
Radio and display receiver assembly (for Radio and Display Type)
Spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly
Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU)
Back door lock assembly
Back-up light switch assembly (for Manual Transaxle)
Pack/neutral position switch assembly (except Manual Transaxle)
This system is equipped with a self-diagnosis system, which is operated from a designated window that appears on the display panel, just as in the navigation system.
FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS
The television camera assembly controls the system by using information from the following components.
| Item | Function |
|---|---|
| Television Camera Assembly |
|
| Navigation receiver assembly (for Navigation Receiver Type) Radio and display receiver assembly (for Radio and Display Type) |
Receives video signals, which contain an image of the area behind the vehicle taken with the television camera assembly. |
| Spiral with Sensor Cable Sub-assembly | Detects the angle of the steering wheel and sends the resulting signals to the television camera assembly through CAN communication. |
| Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) | Transmits a back door courtesy switch signal to the rear television camera assembly through CAN communication. |
| Back Door Lock Assembly | Transmits a back door courtesy switch signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) through CAN communication. |
| Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly*1 Back-up Light Switch Assembly*2 |
Sends the shift position signal to the navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type). |
*1: except Manual Transaxle
*2: for Manual Transaxle
OPERATION EXPLANATION
The television camera assembly sends the display signal to the navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type). The navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type) receives the reverse signal via a CAN communication line when the ignition switch is ON and the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse signal, the navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type) switches to the parking assist monitor system.
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION OUTLINE
This parking assist monitor system has a diagnostic function displayed on the television camera assembly. This function enables calibration (adjustment and verification) of the parking assist monitor system.
The following items for the parking assist monitor system can be checked using the GTS.
