PARKING ASSIST MONITOR SYSTEM(for Camera built-in ECU) SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. GENERAL

    1. This system has a television camera assembly mounted on the back door to display an image of the area behind the vehicle on the display. The display panel also shows a composite view consisting of the area behind the vehicle and parking guide lines to assist the driver in parking the vehicle by monitoring the area behind the vehicle.

    2. This system consists of the following components:

      1. Television camera assembly

      2. Navigation receiver assembly (for Navigation Receiver Type)

      3. Radio and display receiver assembly (for Radio and Display Type)

      4. Spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly

      5. Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU)

      6. Back door lock assembly

      7. Back-up light switch assembly (for Manual Transaxle)

      8. Pack/neutral position switch assembly (except Manual Transaxle)

    3. This system is equipped with a self-diagnosis system, which is operated from a designated window that appears on the display panel, just as in the navigation system.

  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS

    1. The television camera assembly controls the system by using information from the following components.

      Item Function
      Television Camera Assembly
      • Mounted on the back door to transmit an image of the area behind the vehicle to the radio and display receiver assembly.

      • Has a color video camera that uses a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) and a wide-angle lens.

      • Performs overall control of the system by receiving signals from the sensors.

      • Creates images and displays adjustment screens performed on the diagnosis screen.

      • Stops displaying the guide lines when an open signal is received for the back door.

      • Displays "Back door is open" on the back camera position setting screen when an open signal is received for the back door.

Navigation receiver assembly (for Navigation Receiver Type)

Radio and display receiver assembly (for Radio and Display Type)

Receives video signals, which contain an image of the area behind the vehicle taken with the television camera assembly.
Spiral with Sensor Cable Sub-assembly Detects the angle of the steering wheel and sends the resulting signals to the television camera assembly through CAN communication.
Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Transmits a back door courtesy switch signal to the rear television camera assembly through CAN communication.
Back Door Lock Assembly Transmits a back door courtesy switch signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) through CAN communication.

      Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly*1

      Back-up Light Switch Assembly*2

Sends the shift position signal to the navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type).

      *1: except Manual Transaxle

      *2: for Manual Transaxle

  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION

    1. The television camera assembly sends the display signal to the navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type). The navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type) receives the reverse signal via a CAN communication line when the ignition switch is ON and the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse signal, the navigation receiver assembly (for navigation receiver type) or radio and display receiver assembly (for radio and display type) switches to the parking assist monitor system.
