  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.


  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD

    for Single Type: Click here

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. A01V9OAC01
      *a Matchmark

      Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

    4. A01VASJC02
      *a Hold
      *b Turn

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  7. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Cruise Control System)


    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire from the cruise control main switch.

  8. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Detach the 2 pins and 6 claws and remove the steering pad switch.

      Tech Tips

      If the vehicle is equipped with a shift paddle switch, disconnect the connector and the connector clamp.

  9. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER (w/ Damper)

    1. Remove the 2 screws and steering wheel damper from the steering wheel assembly.

  10. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL BOSS LOWER COVER (w/o Steering Heater)


    1. A01VAJC

      w/o Shift Paddle Switch


      1. Detach the 2 guide pins and 4 claws, and remove the lower cover.

    2. A01V77S

      w/ Shift Paddle Switch


      1. Remove the 2 screws.

      2. Detach the 2 guide pins and 2 claws, and remove the lower cover.
