Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR DISC

      *a Matchmarks

      Align the matchmarks of the rear disc and axle hub and install the rear disc.

      Tech Tips

      When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the disc has the smallest runout.

  2. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

  3. CHECK DISC RUNOUT

  4. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE


    1. Temporarily install the hub nuts.

    2. A01QRM7C03
      A01QRKS Shoe Adjuster Contracts
      A01QOU0 Shoe Adjuster Expands

      Remove the shoe adjusting hole plug, and then turn the adjuster to expand the shoe adjuster until the disc locks.

    3. Turn the shoe adjuster so that it contracts to a point where the disc rotates smoothly.

      Standard
      8 notches
    4. Check that the shoe has no brake drag.

  5. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT


    1. A01QSAWC01
      *1 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of a new rear disc brake bush dust boot where it contacts the rear disc brake cylinder mounting, and the entire inner circumference of both of its ends.

      Tech Tips

      Apply at least 0.3 g (0.01 oz.) of lithium soap base glycol grease to the rear disc brake bush dust boot.

      Note

      Apply a sufficient amount of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the rear disc brake bush dust boot and rear disc brake cylinder mounting contact surfaces.

    2. Install the 2 rear disc brake bush dust boots to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

  6. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH


    1. A01QTZRC04
      *1 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to a new rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin where it contacts the rear disc brake cylinder slide bush.

    2. Install the rear disc brake cylinder slide bush to the rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin.

  7. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN


    1. A01QPE9C03
      *1 Rear No. 1 Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Pin
      *2 Rear Disc Brake Rear Cylinder Slide Pin
      *3 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the sliding part and the seal surface of the 2 rear disc brake cylinder slide pins.

    2. Install the rear No. 1 disc brake cylinder slide pin and rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

  8. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH


    1. Install the rear disc brake cylinder mounting with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      88 N*m  { 897 kgf*cm, 65 ft.*lbf }
  9. INSTALL DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE


    1. Install the 2 pad support plates to the disc brake cylinder mounting.

  10. INSTALL PAD WEAR INDICATOR PLATE


    1. Install the 2 indicator plates to the lower side of each pad.

  11. INSTALL REAR ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT

      A01QSVW Disc brake grease

      Apply disc brake grease to both sides of the 2 No. 1 anti-squeal shims as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Make sure that disc brake grease is not applied onto the lining surface.

    2. Install the 2 No. 1 anti-squeal shims to the rear disc brake pads.

      Note

      When replacing a worn pad, the shims must be replaced together with the pads.

  12. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD


    1. Install the 2 disc brake pads to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

      Note

      Make sure there is no oil or grease on the friction surface of the pads and disc.

  13. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01QP0CC01
      *a Hold
      *b Turn

      Hold the rear disc brake cylinder slide pins and install the rear disc brake cylinder assembly to the disc brake cylinder mounting with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      26.5 N*m  { 270 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf }
  14. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH


    1. Install a new gasket and connect the flexible hose with a new union bolt.

      Torque:
      39.2 N*m  { 400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Install the flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the cylinder.

  15. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID

  16. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER BRACKET LH

  17. BLEED BRAKE LINE

  18. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER BRACKET LH

  19. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
