REAR BRAKE DISASSEMBLY

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT

      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, pry out the set ring and boot.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the rear disc brake piston and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

  2. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PISTON


    1. A00YVMXC01
      *a Cloth

      Place a piece of cloth between the rear disc brake piston and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

    2. Apply compressed air to remove the rear disc brake piston from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

      CAUTION:

      Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air.

      Note

      Be careful not to spatter the brake fluid.

  3. REMOVE PISTON SEAL

      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the inner surface of the cylinder or piston seal groove.

  4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG CAP

  5. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG


    1. Remove the rear disc brake bleeder plug from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
