BRAKE PEDAL REMOVAL

  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL

  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (w/ Driver Side Knee Airbag)

  5. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (w/o Driver Side Knee Airbag)

  6. DISCONNECT CONNECTORS


    1. Disconnect the stop light switch connector.

    2. Detach the 2 clamps from the brake pedal support.

  7. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  8. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING


    1. Remove the brake pedal return spring from the brake pedal support.

  9. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN


    1. Remove the clip from the push rod pin.

    2. Remove the push rod pin from the push rod clevis.

  10. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY

      *1 Instrument Panel Reinforcement
      *2 Brake Pedal Support

      Remove the brake pedal support reinforcement set bolt.

      Remove the 4 nuts and brake pedal support assembly.
