DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAIL-SAFE CHART

  1. Automatic Cancel Control

    Tech Tips

If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    Constant Speed Control Mode:
Auto Cancel conditionSituation Warning Fail-safe Deactivation Condition
Multi-information Display Master Warning Light Cruise Control Indicator Warning Buzzer
Open or short in stop light switch circuit Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Does not illuminate "Pong" warning sound is heard Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control switch

    • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

    • Problem with cruise control switch cancel circuit

    • Malfunction in the vehicle stability control system

    • Communication stop between skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) and ECM

Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Does not illuminate "Pong" warning sound is heard Ignition switch is turned off and back to ON again
Malfunction in SFI system - Does not illuminate Illuminates - Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control switch (ON/OFF)
Vehicle speed is lower than stored speed by approximately 16 km/h (or 10 mph) or more - Does not illuminate Illuminates - cruise control switch is pushed to -/SET

If the following condition occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Vehicle speed is lower than approximately 40 km/h (or 25 mph) while driving with the dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • Vehicle stability control system operates while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • TRC system operates for a certain period of time while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed.

    • VSC/TRC is turned off

    - Does not illuminate Illuminates - cruise control switch is pushed to +/RES

      for Manual Transaxle:

    • Engine speed rises to high-speed range

    • Engine speed drops to low-speed range

    • Dynamic radar cruise control system cannot determine current gear

    - Does not illuminate Illuminates - cruise control switch is pushed to +/RES
    Vehicle-to-vehicle Distance Control Mode:

Malfunction in SFI system - Does not illuminate Illuminates - Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control switch

    • Malfunction in the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly

    • Beam axis of millimeter wave radar sensor assembly deviates

There is dirt on millimeter wave radar sensor assembly Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Clean Sensor Illuminates Does not illuminate "Pong" warning sound is heard The condition returns to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated)

    • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly sensitivity reduced because of bad weather such as rain, fog, snow, or sandstorm

    • Brake control by the dynamic radar cruise control system is temporarily unavailable

    • The beam axis of the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is being aligned

    • Malfunction in the forward recognition camera

    • The forward recognition camera is temporarily unavailable

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Illuminates Does not illuminate "Pong" warning sound is heard The conditions return to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated)
