AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SYSTEM DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST

    Tech Tips

Using the GTS to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    Note

In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    1. Warm up the engine.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    5. Turn the GTS on.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / (desired system) / Data List.

    7. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

  2. ACTIVE TEST

    Tech Tips

Using the GTS to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.

    1. Warm up the engine.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    5. Turn the GTS on.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Active Test.

    7. According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test.

Powertrain > ECT > Active Test

      • Engine stopped

      • Shift lever in P or N

Activate the Solenoid (SLT) Operate shift solenoid valve SLT and raise line pressure

      ON or OFF

      Tech Tips

      ON: No action (normal operation)

OFF: Line pressure up (When Active Test "Activate the Solenoid (SLT)" is performed, TCM commands shift solenoid valve SLT to turn off).

      [Vehicle Condition]

      • Vehicle stopped

      • Engine idling

Activate the Lock Up Control shift solenoid valve SLU and SL to set the automatic transaxle to lock-up ON or OFF

Can be used to check shift solenoid valve SLU and SL operation.

      [Vehicle Condition]

Vehicle speed: 60 km/h (37 mph) or more

Activate the Solenoid (SL) Operate shift solenoid valve SL ON or OFF

      [Vehicle Condition]

      • Engine stopped

      • Shift lever in P or N

Control the Shift Position Operate the shift solenoid valves and set each shift position
      • Press "→" button: Shift up

      • Press "←" button: Shift down

Can be used to check the operation of the shift solenoid valves.

A 10-second interval is required between gear changes.

Do not down-shift at high speeds. Doing so will damage the automatic transaxle.

      [Vehicle Condition]

      50 km/h (30 mph) or less

Activate the Solenoid (SL1) Operate shift solenoid valve SL1 ON or OFF

      [Vehicle Condition]

Activate the Solenoid (SL3) Operate shift solenoid valve SL3 ON or OFF

      [Vehicle Condition]

      • Engine stopped

      • Shift lever in P or N

Activate the Solenoid (SL4) Operate shift solenoid valve SL4 ON or OFF

      [Vehicle Condition]

      • Engine stopped

      • Shift lever in P or N

      Tech Tips

Activate the Solenoid (SLT) in the Active Test is performed to confirm that the line pressure changes. The line pressure changes are confirmed using the same SST that is used for the Hydraulic Test.
