PROCEDURE
REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER
REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR
Remove the nut, 3 clips and No. 1 fuel tank protector.
Tech Tips
The clip labeled A cannot be removed from the No. 1 fuel tank protector.
REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY

Disconnect the connector.
Slide the clamp and disconnect the purge line hose.
Disconnect the air inlet line hose.
Push in the retainer and pull out the air inlet line hose straight from the pipe.
Note
Do not use any tools in this procedure.
Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the canister and around the hose. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-ring or cause leaks in the seal between the charcoal canister assembly and hose.
When disconnecting the hose, make sure that the retainer is not lifted.
Disconnect the vent line hose.
Pinch the retainer and then raise it.
Note
Do not use any tools in this procedure.
Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the charcoal canister assembly and around the hose. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-ring or cause leaks in the seal between the charcoal canister assembly and hose.
Remove the 4 bolts, clip and charcoal canister assembly.
REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER BASE BRACKET
Detach the claw and remove the charcoal canister base bracket.
REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER PROTECTOR
Detach the claw and remove the charcoal canister protector.
REMOVE CANISTER PUMP MODULE
Before removing the canister pump module, clean the canister by blowing air into it to ensure that the canister is free of foreign matter.
Note
Make sure to clean the canister using only air.
Do not use gasoline, thinners or solvents.

While disengaging the 2 claws as shown in the illustration, push the canister pump module upwards using a screwdriver to remove it.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Check if the canister contains foreign matter such as mud or water.
Visually check that the inside of the canister is free of foreign matter.
Hold the canister upside down to make sure that the canister is free of foreign matter.
If the charcoal canister assembly contains foreign matter, replace the charcoal canister assembly.
