CYLINDER HEAD DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE

    Tech Tips

    Arrange the intake valves, inner compression springs, valve spring retainers and valve spring retainer locks in the correct order.


    1. Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on a wooden block.

      *a Wooden Block

      Using SST, compress the 4 inner compression springs and remove the 8 valve spring retainer locks.

    3. Remove the 4 valve spring retainers, 4 inner compression springs and 4 intake valves.

  2. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE

    Tech Tips

    Arrange the exhaust valves, inner compression springs, valve spring retainers and valve spring retainer locks in the correct order.


    1. Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on a wooden block.

    2. A01LVHVC01
      *a Wooden Block

      Using SST, compress the 4 inner compression springs and remove the 8 valve spring retainer locks.

    3. Remove the 4 valve spring retainers, 4 inner compression springs and 4 exhaust valves.

  3. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. A01LWYX

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 8 valve stem oil seals.

  4. REMOVE STUD BOLT

    Tech Tips

    If a stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.


    1. Remove the 8 stud bolts.
