SFI SYSTEM(w/ Canister Pump Module) Starter Signal Circuit

DESCRIPTION

While the engine is being cranked, current flows from terminal STAR of the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) to the park/neutral position switch and to terminal STA of the ECM (STA signal).

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)

    1. Connect the GTS to DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / Starter Signal.

Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List
      Tester Display
      Starter Signal
    5. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the engine switch is turned to the on (IG) and START positions.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY, ECM)

    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    3. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
