PROCEDURE
FUEL PRESSURE
Read Data List
Note
In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
Tech Tips
Using the GTS to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
Warm up the engine.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
Read the Data List.
| Tester Display | Measurement Item/Range | Normal Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel Press | Fuel pressure/ Min.: 0 kPa, Max.: 655350 kPa |
Idling: 27000 to 45000 kPa |
| Target Common Rail Pressure | Target common rail pressure/ Min.: 0 kPa, Max.: 655350 kPa |
32000 to 200000 kPa when engine running |
INSPECT FOR FUEL LEAK
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test.
| Tester Display |
|---|
| Test the Fuel Leak |
Perform the Active Test.
| Tester Display | Measurement Item | Control Range | Diagnostic Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Test the Fuel Leak | Pressurize the common rail interior and check for fuel leaks | Stop/Start |
Tech Tips If this Active Test is performed when the engine is cold, combustion may become unstable. However, this is not a malfunction. It is only necessary to confirm that the pressure rises to the target pressure and that there are no fuel leaks. |
