PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL STUD BOLT

    Tech Tips

    If a stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.


    1. Install the 8 stud bolts.

      Tech Tips

      Refer to "SPECIFICATIONS - STANDARD BOLT" for the tightening torque.

  2. INSTALL VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new valve stem oil seal.

      Using SST, push in the 8 valve stem oil seals.

  3. INSTALL INTAKE VALVE


    1. Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on a wooden block.

    2. Install the 4 intake valves, 4 inner compression springs and 4 valve spring retainers to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Note

      Install the same parts in the same combination to their original locations.

    3. A01M09KN01

      Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and place the 8 valve spring retainer locks around the intake valve stem.

    4. Using a 5 mm pin punch and plastic hammer, lightly tap the intake valve stem tip to ensure a proper fit.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the intake valve stem tip.

  4. INSTALL EXHAUST VALVE


    1. Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on a wooden block.

    2. Install the 4 exhaust valves, 4 inner compression springs and 4 valve spring retainers to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Note

      Install the same parts in the same combination to their original locations.

    3. A01LVHVN01

      Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and place the 8 valve spring retainer locks around the exhaust valve stem.

    4. Using a 5 mm pin punch and plastic hammer, lightly tap the exhaust valve stem tip to ensure a proper fit.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the exhaust valve stem tip.
