PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 WITH HEAD TAPER SCREW PLUG


    1. A01M13T

      Install 3 new gaskets to the 3 No. 1 with head taper screw plugs.

    2. Using a 6 mm hexagon wrench, install the 3 No. 1 with head taper screw plugs to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Torque:
      25 N*m  { 255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL VALVE ROCKER ARM PIVOT


    1. A01LZMB

      Install the 8 valve rocker arm pivots to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Torque:
      30 N*m  { 306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL VALVE SPRING SEAT


    1. A01LXRR

      Install the 8 valve spring seats to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  4. INSTALL VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. A01M27W

      Apply a light coat of engine oil to the lip of 8 new valve stem oil seals.

    2. Install the valve stem oil seals to the intake valve guide bush and exhaust valve guide bush.

  5. INSTALL INTAKE VALVE


    1. A01LXI7C03
      *a 30 mm (1.18 in.) or more

      Sufficiently apply engine oil to the tip area of the 4 intake valves shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the 4 intake valves, 4 outer compression springs and 4 valve spring retainers to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    3. A01LUVDE01

      Using SST, install the 8 valve spring retainer locks to the 4 valve spring retainers.

    4. A01LYLK

      Using a plastic hammer, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure that it fits properly.

      Note

      Do not damage the valve stem tip.

  6. INSTALL EXHAUST VALVE


    1. A01LYDTC03
      *a 30 mm (1.18 in.) or more

      Sufficiently apply engine oil to the tip area of the 4 exhaust valve shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the 4 exhaust valves, 4 outer compression springs and 4 valve spring retainers to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    3. A01M2ARE01

      Using SST, install the 8 valve spring retainer locks to the 4 valve spring retainers.

    4. A01LWW6

      Using a plastic hammer, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure that it fits properly.

      Note

      Do not damage the valve stem tip.

  7. INSTALL VALVE STEM CAP


    1. Using a plastic hammer, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure that it fits properly.

      Note

      Do not damage the tip of the valve stem.

    2. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the 8 valve stem caps.

    3. Install the 8 valve stem caps to the 4 intake valves and 4 exhaust valves.
