THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM Theft Warning Siren Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The theft warning siren sounds if either of the following conditions is met:

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (SECURITY HORN2)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Theft Deterrent / Active Test.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test.


      Body Electrical > Theft Deterrent > Active Test

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - THEFT WARNING SIREN ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the L53 theft warning siren assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L53-5 (+B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L53-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) - THEFT WARNING SIREN ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the E108 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E108-18 (SSCL) - L53-4 (CONT) Always Below 1 Ω
      E108-18 (SSCL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L53-4 (CONT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. REPLACE THEFT WARNING SIREN ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the theft warning siren assembly.

  5. CHECK THEFT WARNING SIREN ASSEMBLY


    1. Set the theft deterrent system to "ARMED STATE".

    2. Check that the security indicator changes from illuminated to blinking.

    3. Change the theft deterrent system to "ALARM SOUNDING STATE".

    4. Check that the theft warning siren assembly is sounding.
