ULTRASONIC SENSOR(for Wagon Rear Side) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR

    Tech Tips


    • Perform this step only when necessary.

    • If a No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer has been removed, replace it with a new one.

    • Use the same procedure for all No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainers and No. 1 ultrasonic sensors.

    • This illustration is for the corner sensor LH side. The orientation for the corner sensor RH side are the opposite of the corner sensor LH side.


    1. When replacing the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer:


      1. Clean the rear bumper assembly surface.


        1. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

        2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

        *a 19 mm (0.748 in.)

        Cover the sensor installation hole with a 19 mm (0.748 in.) square piece of tape.

      3. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer installation area.

        Note


        • Use a clean brush or felt.

        • Do not touch the rear bumper assembly until the primer has dried.

      4. Confirm that the primer has completely dried by touching the rear bumper assembly. Then remove the tape.

        Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor to a new No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

      6. Peel off the release paper from the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

        *a Scribed Line

        Align the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer and No. 1 ultrasonic sensor with the scribed line on the rear bumper assembly and install it as shown in the illustration.

        Note


        • Insert the sensor tip into the sensor installation hole of the rear bumper assembly.

        • Ensure that the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer is within the scribed line.

        • The double-sided tape of a No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer will deteriorate if it is detached. Make sure to replace the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer with a new one when reattachment is necessary.

        Tech Tips

        Press the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer with a force of 30 N (3.0 kgf) for 3 seconds and install the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer firmly so that there is no clearance between the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer and rear bumper assembly.

    2. When replacing only the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor:


      1. Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor.

    3. Connect the connector.

    4. Engage the clamp.

  2. INSTALL NO. 3 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER

    Tech Tips


    • Perform this step only when necessary.

    • If a No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer has been removed, replace it with a new one.

    • Use the same procedure for all No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainers.

    • This illustration is for the back sensor LH side. The orientation for the back sensor RH side is the same as the back sensor LH side.


    1. Clean the rear bumper assembly surface.


      1. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      *a 25 mm (0.984 in.)

      Cover the sensor installation hole with a 25 mm (0.984 in.) square piece of tape.

    3. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer installation area.

      Note


      • Use a clean brush or felt.

      • Do not touch the rear bumper assembly until the primer has dried.

    4. Confirm that the primer has completely dried by touching the rear bumper assembly. Then remove the tape.

    5. Peel off the release paper from a new No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

    6. A01KSGNC01
      *a Scribed Line

      Align the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer with the scribed line on the rear bumper assembly and install it as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Ensure that the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer is within the scribed line.

      • The double-sided tape of a No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer will deteriorate if it is detached. Make sure to replace the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer with a new one when reattachment is necessary.

      Tech Tips

      Press the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer with a force of 30 N (3.0 kgf) for 3 seconds and install the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer firmly so that there is no clearance between the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer and rear bumper assembly.

  3. INSTALL NO. 3 ULTRASONIC SENSOR

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for all No. 3 ultrasonic sensors.


    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor.

    2. Connect the connector.

    3. Engage the clamp.
