DATA LIST
Tech Tips
Using the GTS to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
Note
In the table below, the values listed under Normal Condition are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
Warm up the engine.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Charging Control / Data List.
According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.
| Tester Display | Measurement Item | Range | Normal Condition | Diagnostic Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Battery Voltage | Battery voltage | Min.: 0.0 V Max.: 39.9 V |
11 to 14 V (Idling) | If the result is not as specified, abnormal battery voltage is suspected. |
| Battery Current | Battery current | Min.: -160.0 A Max.: 159.9 A |
Changes according to alternator output (While driving after engine warmed up) |
If the result is not as specified, a malfunction of the charging control system is suspected. |
| Battery Temperature | Battery fluid temperature calculated based on output from battery temperature sensor (generator control ECU assembly) | Min.: -160.0°C (-256.0°F) Max.: 159.9 °C (319.8 °F) |
Changes according to actual temperature (While driving after engine warmed up) |
If the result is not as specified, a malfunction of the charging control system is suspected. |
| Alternator Output Duty | LIN1 terminal output (charge control signal) | Min.: 0.0% Max.: 199.2% |
Changes according to alternator output (During charging control) |
If the result is not as specified, a malfunction of the charging control system is suspected. |
| Alternator Voltage | Requested output voltage of alternator | Min.: 0.0 V Max.: 39.9 V |
Changes according to alternator output (During charging control) |
If the result is not as specified, a malfunction of the charging control system is suspected. |
| Number of DTCs | Number of DTCs | Min.: 0 Max.: 255 |

Tech Tips
Normal Condition: If no idling conditions are specified, the shift lever should be in N (Neutral), and the A/C switch and all accessory switches should be off.
ACTIVE TEST
Tech Tips
Using the GTS to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Charging Control / Active Test.
According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test.
| Tester Display | Measurement Item | Control Range | Diagnostic Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Control the Voltage of Alternator | Request output voltage of generator regulator during forced activation | Between 12.5 and 14.6 V | Test is possible after engine start |
