Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure described below is for the LH side.
The license plate light bulb can be replaced by removing only the license plate light lens. It is not necessary to remove the license plate light assembly. (for Wagon)
PROCEDURE
REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback)
Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.
Note
Do not apply excessive force to the claw of the license plate light assembly as it may be damaged.
Pull out the license plate light assembly as indicated by arrows, in the order shown in the illustration.
Disconnect the connector to remove the license plate light assembly.
REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB (for Hatchback)
Turn the license plate light socket with the license plate light bulb as shown in the illustration to remove them as a unit.
Remove the license plate light bulb from the license plate light socket.
REMOVE BACK DOOR UPPER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Wagon)
REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH (for Wagon)
REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH (for Wagon)
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
REMOVE DOOR PULL HANDLE (for Wagon)
REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Wagon)
REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Wagon)
Disconnect the connector.
Disengage the 2 claws to remove the license plate light assembly.
REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT PACKING (for Wagon)
Remove the license plate light packing.
Note
Do not reuse the removed license plate light packing. Be sure to install a new license plate light packing to prevent water ingress.
REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT LENS (for Wagon)

Protective Tape |
Insert a screwdriver wrapped with protective tape into the license plate light lens hole, tilt it as shown in the illustration and disengage the 2 claws to remove the license plate light lens.
REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB (for Wagon)
Remove the license plate light bulb.
