FRONT DOOR DISASSEMBLY

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure described below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative(-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE BATTERY BOX COVER

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. REMOVE DOOR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 11 claws, guide and remove the door assist grip assembly.

  5. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Driver Side)

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the clip, 5 claws and 3 guides as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the power window regulator master switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

  6. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Front Passenger Side)

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the clip, 5 claws and 3 guides as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the power window regulator switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH


    1. w/o Front No. 2 Speaker:


      1. A01G3XD

        Disengage the clip and 2 guides and remove the front door lower frame bracket garnish.

    2. w/ Front No. 2 Speaker:


      1. A01G3XD

        Disengage the clip and 2 guides.

      2. Disconnect the connector and remove the front door lower frame bracket garnish.

  8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (w/ Front No. 2 Speaker)

  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claw and open the cover.

      A01G3OB Protective Tape

      Put protective tape around the front door panel.

    3. A01G38Z

      Remove the 3 screws.

    4. A01G3K8

      Disengage the 8 clips and remove the front door trim board sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

    5. A01G3J4

      Disconnect the front door lock remote control cable assembly and front door inside locking cable assembly.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the 4 guides, and remove the front door inside handle sub-assembly.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INNER GLASS WEATHERSTRIP


    1. A01G3UE

      Disengage the 8 claws as shown in the illustration and remove the front door inner glass weatherstrip.

  12. REMOVE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY WITH COVER

  13. REMOVE FRONT SPEAKER COVER (w/o Front Speaker)

      Remove the front speaker cover.

      Note

      Remove any remaining butyl tape from the door.

  14. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (w/ Front No.1 Speaker)

  15. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER

      Remove the front door service hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Remove any remaining butyl tape from the door.

  16. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    2. for Driver Side:


      1. Connect the power window regulator master switch assembly and move the front door glass sub-assembly so that the door glass bolts can be seen.

    3. for Front Passenger Side:


      1. Connect the power window regulator switch assembly and move the front door glass sub-assembly so that the door glass bolts can be seen.

    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    5. for Driver Side:


      1. Disconnect the power window regulator master switch assembly.

    6. for Front Passenger Side:


      1. Disconnect the power window regulator switch assembly.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

      Note

      After the bolts are removed, do not allow the front door glass sub-assembly to fall.

      Remove the front door glass sub-assembly as indicated by the arrows, in the order shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the front door glass sub-assembly.

  17. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY

      *a Temporary Bolt

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Loosen the temporary bolt.

      Note

      Do not remove the temporary bolt. If the temporary bolt is removed, the front door window regulator may fall and cause damage.

    3. Remove the 5 bolts.

    4. Remove the front door window regulator assembly.

    5. Remove the temporary bolt from the front door window regulator assembly.

  18. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN

      Remove the front door glass run.

  19. REMOVE FRONT DOOR REAR LOWER FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt.

    2. Disengage the guide and remove the front door rear lower frame sub-assembly.

  20. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER WITH LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for Driver Side)

      Remove the hole plug.

    2. A01G3QZ

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the screw and remove the front door outside handle cover with lock cylinder assembly.

      Tech Tips

      The screw cannot be removed because it is integrated into the front door outside handle frame sub-assembly.

  21. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER (for Driver Side)

      Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and 2 guides, and remove the front door outside handle cover as shown in the illustration.

  22. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER (for Front Passenger Side)

      Remove the hole plug.

    2. A01G3Q1

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the screw and remove the front door outside handle cover.

      Tech Tips

      The screw cannot be removed because it is integrated into the front door outside handle frame sub-assembly.

  23. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY


    1. w/ Smart Entry Function:


      1. A01G3MS

        Disengage the 2 claws.

      2. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector.

    2. A01G3QX

      Remove the front door outside handle assembly as shown in the illustration.

  24. REMOVE FRONT DOOR FRONT OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD


    1. A01G3TY

      Disengage the 3 claws and remove the front door front outside handle pad.

  25. REMOVE FRONT DOOR REAR OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front door rear outside handle pad.

  26. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY

      *1 Front Door Lock Open Rod

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 3 screws.

    3. Slide the front door lock assembly downward, and remove the front door lock assembly and cables as a unit.

    4. When reusing the front door lock assembly:

        Remove the door lock wiring harness seal from the front door lock assembly.

  27. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK REMOTE CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the front door lock remote control cable assembly.

  28. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE LOCKING CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws.

    2. A01G3R6

      Remove the front door inside locking cable assembly.

  29. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. w/ Smart Entry Function:

        Disengage the 3 clamps.

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the screw.

    3. Slide the front door outside handle frame sub-assembly to disengage the claw of the front door outside handle frame sub-assembly, and then remove it.

  30. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK OPEN ROD

      Remove the front door lock open rod as indicated by the arrows, in the order shown in the illustration.

  31. REMOVE FRONT DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and front door check assembly.

  32. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP

      Using a clip remover, disengage the 16 clips and remove the front door weatherstrip.

  33. REMOVE DOOR FRAME GARNISH


    1. A01G3TA

      Disengage the clip and remove the door frame garnish.

      Tech Tips

      This garnish needs to be replaced with a new one because the clip will break when removing it.

  34. REMOVE DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING CLIP

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the door window frame moulding clip.

  35. REMOVE FRONT DOOR DUST PROOF SEAL

      Disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 front door dust proof seals.

  36. REMOVE FRONT DOOR PANEL CUSHION


    1. A01G2SF

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the 2 front door panel cushions.

  37. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME GARNISH PAD

      *a Double-sided Tape

      Remove the front door lower frame garnish pad.

  38. REMOVE FRONT DOOR BELT MOULDING ASSEMBLY

  40. REMOVE NO. 1 BLACK OUT TAPE (w/ Black Out Tape)
