EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

    Click here

  2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 ENGINE UNDER COVER

    Click here

  3. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (w/ Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)

    Click here

  5. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

    Click here

  6. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) (w/ Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)

    CAUTION:

    Perform this procedure when the coolant is not hot.


    1. A013B0N

      Disconnect the 3 clamps and oxygen sensor connector.

    2. A0139BX

      Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 heater water hoses.

    3. A0139AN

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs.

    4. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

    5. Remove the 2 gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) and exhaust manifold.

  7. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) (w/o Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)


    1. A0139K5

      Disconnect the 3 clamps and oxygen sensor connector.

    2. A0139BK

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs.

    3. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

    4. Remove the 2 gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) and exhaust manifold.

  8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A013ASW

      Remove the 3 nuts and No. 1 floor heat insulator.

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A0139UA

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold.

  10. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY


    1. A013AXV

      Remove the 3 bolts and manifold stay.

  11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD


    1. A0139F6

      Remove the 7 nuts and exhaust manifold.

    2. Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket and EGR cooler gasket.

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A013AAO

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold.
