PROCEDURE
INSTALL REAR ENGINE OIL SEAL
Gently place the engine assembly on wooden blocks or equivalent.
Note
This step should be done while hanging the engine assembly using the engine hangers and a chain block.
Apply MP grease to the lip of a new rear engine oil seal.
Note
Keep the lip free from foreign matter.
Using SST and a hammer, tap in the rear engine oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear engine oil seal retainer edge.
Note
Wipe any extra grease off of the crankshaft.
Do not tap in the rear engine oil seal at an angle.
INSTALL FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
Gently place the engine assembly on wooden blocks or equivalent.
Note
This step should be done while hanging the engine assembly using the engine hangers and a chain block.
Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.

Apply adhesive to the 2 or 3 threads at the tip of each of the 8 bolts.

| Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent |
Using several steps, uniformly install and tighten the 8 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

Paint Mark |
Mark the front of the bolts with paint.
Further tighten the 8 bolts 90° in the same order.
Check that the paint marks are now at a 90° angle to the front.
Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly.
INSTALL TRANSMISSION INPUT DAMPER ASSEMBLY
Gently place the engine assembly on wooden blocks or equivalent.
Note
This step should be done while hanging the engine assembly using the engine hangers and a chain block.
Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.
Install the transmission input damper assembly.
In several steps, uniformly install and tighten the 6 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Note
Do not insert the transmission input damper assembly in the wrong direction.
