CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

   2. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode).

      Click here

   3. Start the engine.

   4. Turn the GTS on.

   5. Turn the A/C switch on.

   6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1).

      
      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test

      Tester Display
      Control the VVT Linear (Bank1)

   7. Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the GTS with the engine coolant temperature at 50°C (122°F) or less.

      Standard
      GTS Operation Specified Condition 0% Normal engine speed 100% Engine idles roughly or stalls

      Tech Tips

      
      

      • If the result is not as specified, cool the engine (engine coolant temperature is 30°C (86°F) or less) and perform the Active Test again.

      • DTCs related to the VVT system may be stored due to Active Test operation, but this does not indicate a malfunction.
