REAR AXLE HUB BOLT REPLACEMENT

Note

When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL

  3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  4. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. LOOSEN NO. 2 WIRE ADJUSTING NUT

    Click here

  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR

  7. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

    2. A01KTWL

      Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

      *1 Clip
      *2 Rear Disc Brake Caliper Assembly

      Disengage the clip and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  8. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01KTER

      Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose from the No. 2 flexible hose bracket.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

      Note

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the rear disc brake caliper assembly from hanging by the rear flexible hose.

  9. REMOVE REAR DISC

  10. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB BOLT


    1. A01KR1SC01
      *a Service Nut

      Temporarily install 2 service nuts to the rear axle hub bolts as shown in the illustration.

      Recommended Service Nut
      Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
      Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.)

      Note

      Install the service nuts to prevent damage to the rear axle hub bolts.

    2. Using SST and a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the rear axle hub and bearing assembly, remove the rear axle hub bolt.

      SST
      09611-12010

      Note

      Do not damage the threads of the rear axle hub bolts.

  11. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB BOLT


    1. A01KRERC01
      *a Service Nut
      *b Washer

      Temporarily install a new rear axle hub bolt to the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

    2. Install a washer and service nut to the rear axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

      Recommended Service Nut
      Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
      Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.)

      Tech Tips

      Recommended washer thickness is 5 mm (0.197 in.) or more.

    3. Using a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the rear axle hub and bearing assembly, install the rear axle hub bolt by tightening the service nut.

      Note


      • Install the service nuts to prevent damage to the rear axle hub bolts.

      • Do not damage the threads of the rear axle hub bolts.

    4. Remove the 3 service nuts and washer from the 3 rear axle hub bolts.

  12. INSTALL REAR DISC

  13. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      57.4 N*m  { 585 kgf*cm, 42 ft.*lbf }
    2. Install the rear flexible hose to the No. 2 flexible hose bracket with the bolt.

      Torque:
      29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }
  14. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01KS6CC03
      *1 Clip
      *2 Rear Disc Brake Caliper Assembly

      Engage the clip to install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

      Note

      Be sure to engage the clip to the rear disc brake caliper assembly as shown in the illustration.

    2. A01KS99

      Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

    3. Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly with the bolt.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }
  15. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR

  16. CONNECT CABLE TO AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL


    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      for Wagon: Click here

      for Hatchback: Click here

    2. Connect the reservoir level switch connector.

    3. Clear the DTCs.

  17. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE

  18. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  19. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
