PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE VALVE LIFTER


    1. Remove the valve lifter and adjusting shim.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the valve lifters and shims in the correct order.

  2. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE


    1. A01XHYOE03

      Using SST, compress the spring and remove the 2 retainer locks.

      09202-70020   ( 09202-00030 )

    2. Remove the spring retainer, spring, valve and spring seat plate washer.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the valves, springs, spring seat plate washers and spring retainers in the correct order.

  3. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE


    1. A01XFMGE03

      Using SST, compress the spring and remove the 2 retainer locks.

    2. Remove the spring retainer, spring, valve and spring seat plate washer.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the valves, springs, spring seat plate washers and spring retainers in the correct order.

  4. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the oil seals.

  5. REMOVE COMBUSTION CHAMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01XJOIE03

      Using SST, remove the 4 combustion chambers and 4 valve seats.

      SST
      09208-48010

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the combustion chambers and valve seats in the correct order.

  6. REMOVE STUD BOLT

    Note

    If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.

  7. REMOVE SEMICIRCULAR PLUG


    1. Remove the semicircular plug from the cylinder head.
