PROCEDURE
INSPECT V BELT
| *a | CORRECT |
| *b | INCORRECT |
| *c | Clearance |
Visually check the belt for cracks, oiliness or wear. Check that the belt does not touch the bottom of the pulley groove.
If necessary, replace the belt.

|
Measuring Point for Belt Tension |
Check the vane pump V belt deflection by pressing on the belt at the point indicated in the illustration with 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) of force.

If the belt tension is not as specified, adjust it.
Note
Check the vane pump V belt tension at the specified point.
When installing a new belt, set its deflection value as specified.
Perform the V belt tension and deflection value check after idling the engine for a few minutes.
When using a belt tension gauge, confirm the accuracy first by using a master gauge.
When reinstalling a belt used for over 5 minutes, perform the check based on the used deflection value.
When checking a belt used for over 5 minutes, confirm the deflection value is within the specified range.
