WINDOW DEFOGGER SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION


  1. GENERAL

    The rear window defogger wires are attached to the inside of the rear window and defog the window surface quickly by pressing the rear window defogger switch on the air Conditioning Panel (heater control switch board). The indicator light illuminates while the system is operating. The system automatically turns off after approximately 15 minutes.

    Tech Tips

    The rear window defogger is linked with the mirror defogger.

    If both of the following conditions are met after approximately 15 minutes after the rear window defogger was activated, the rear window defogger continues to operate up to approximately 45 minutes. If the following conditions are not met, the rear window defogger stops operating immediately.


    1. The outside temperature is -3°C (27°F) or below.

    2. The charging system is operating normally.

    Note

    If the battery voltage becomes low, rear window defogger operation is canceled to prioritize supplying power to the power steering system.

  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT

    Component Outline
    Air Conditioning Panel (Heater Control Switch Board) Sends signals to the air conditioning amplifier assembly to operate the rear window defogger.
    Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly Sends rear window defogger activation request signal to the engine room junction block assembly.
    Engine Room Junction Block Assembly Receives rear window defogger activation request signal from the air conditioning amplifier assembly and supplies power to the rear window defogger wire (back window glass).
    Rear Window Defogger Wire (Back Window Glass) Receives power from the engine room junction block assembly and heats the rear window using the rear window defogger wire (back window glass).
