AIR CONDITIONING UNIT (for TMC, TMMR Made) REMOVAL

Note

Make sure to select FACE mode before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.


  1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


    1. Turn the A/C switch on.

    2. Operate the air conditioning with a set temperature of 25°C (77°F) and the blower at low for 10 minutes to circulate the refrigerant. This causes most of the compressor oil from the various components of the air conditioning system to collect in the air conditioning compressor.

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    4. Recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning system using a refrigerant recovery unit.

  2. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE FRONT OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. w/ Windshield Deicer System:


      1. B000HLG

        Disengage the 2 clamps.

      2. Disconnect the connector and separate the wire harness from the front outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

    2. w/ Heated Windshield Defroster System:


      1. B000HSG

        Disengage the 4 clamps.

      2. Disconnect the 2 connectors and separate the wire harness from the front outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

    3. B000KY4

      Disengage the 2 clamps and separate the wire harness from the front outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

    4. B000KRD

      Remove the 10 bolts and front outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE FRONT OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. B000L2Z

      Disengage the 2 clamps and separate the wire harness from the front outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

    2. B000GWP

      Remove the 10 bolts and front outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

  5. DISCONNECT HEATER OUTLET WATER HOSE

      Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the heater outlet water hose.

      Note


      • Do not apply excessive force to the heater outlet water hose.

      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  6. DISCONNECT HEATER INLET WATER HOSE

      Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the heater inlet water hose.

      Note


      • Do not apply excessive force to the heater inlet water hose.

      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  7. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. B000MVI

      Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.

      Note

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  8. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      Note

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Manual Seat)

  11. REMOVE AUDIO AMPLIFIER COVER (for 10 Speakers)

      Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and audio amplifier cover.

  12. REMOVE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (for 10 Speakers)

      Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.

    2. Disconnect each connector and disengage the clamp.

    3. B000JK5

      Remove the bolt.

    4. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the stereo component amplifier assembly with bracket.

  13. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH (for Manual Seat)

  18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

      Disconnect the 5 connectors.

      Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and disconnect the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Disengage the claw and disconnect the connector as shown in the illustration.

    4. B000LBZ

      Disengage the claw and slide the connector lock as shown in the illustration.

    5. B000LNC

      Disengage the claw and disconnect the connector as shown in the illustration.

    6. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

  19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

      Disconnect the 5 connectors.

      Remove the bolt, nut and disconnect the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Remove the nut.

    4. Disengage the claw as shown in the illustration and remove the wiring harness clamp bracket.

      Disengage the claw and disconnect the connector as shown in the illustration.

    6. B000LBZ

      Disengage the claw and slide the connector lock as shown in the illustration.

    7. B000LNC

      Disengage the claw and disconnect the connector as shown in the illustration.

    8. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

  20. REMOVE ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH (w/ ECU Integration Box RH)


    1. for LHD:


      1. Disconnect each connector.

        Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and ECU integration box RH.

    2. for RHD:

  21. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect each connector.

    2. for LHD:

        Remove the 2 screws.

      2. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the air conditioning amplifier assembly.

    3. for RHD:

      2. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the air conditioning amplifier assembly.

  22. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY (w/ Rain Sensor)

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the nut and windshield wiper relay assembly.

  23. DISCONNECT FUEL LID LOCK OPEN LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the screw.

      Disengage the guide to disconnect the fuel lid lock open lever sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

  24. REMOVE REAR NO. 4 AIR DUCT

      Disengage the guide.

    2. Turn back the floor carpet as shown in the illustration.

      Disengage the 4 claws to remove the rear No. 4 air duct.

  25. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET BRACKET LH

    2. Disengage the 2 guides to remove the floor carpet bracket LH.

  26. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT

      Disengage the 2 claws to remove the rear No. 3 air duct.

  27. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT

    2. Turn back the floor carpet as shown in the illustration.

  28. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET BRACKET RH

    2. Disengage the 2 guides to remove the floor carpet bracket RH.

  29. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT

      Disengage the 2 claws to remove the rear No. 1 air duct.

  30. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET (w/ PTC Heater)

      Remove the screw and No. 1 console box mounting bracket from the lower shift lever assembly.

  31. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

      Remove the clip and No. 1 console box duct.

  32. REMOVE ROOM TEMPERATURE SENSOR (COOLER THERMISTOR)


    1. Disconnect the cooler thermistor hose and connector, and remove the room temperature sensor (cooler thermistor).

  33. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the 5 instrument panel safety pad caps.

    Note


    • Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it because failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.

    • When disassembling the air conditioning unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.


    1. for 10 Speakers:

        Disengage the 3 clamps.

      Disengage 3 claw to open the 3 clamps as shown in the illustration.

      Disconnect the connector from the airbag sensor assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Disconnect each connector.

    5. Disengage each clamp.

    6. w/ PTC Heater:

        Disconnect the end of transmission control cable assembly from the lower shift lever assembly.

      2. Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the lower shift lever assembly.

        Remove the 4 bolts and lower shift lever assembly.

        Remove the 4 bolts and shift lever support.

      5. B000KFP

        Remove the bolt.

      6. Disconnect the connector.

    7. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws to unlock the retainer as shown in the illustration.
